45 imagesThe arctic fox is a critically endangered spieces in Scandinavia. There were maybe no more than 50 individuals left in Norway, a few more in Sweden, and almost none in Finland, when the Norwegian government together with scientists in 2005 started a breeding program with wild animals. In 2010 this was specialy successfull and 69 young ones was released in the wild. These photoes are from the release of five arctic foxes in the mountains of Sylene on the border to Sweden in 2008. The animals were microchiped before carried into the mountains.

The wolverine population in Scandinavia was at its lowest in the 1960s, with about only 100 individuals left in the most remote mountains.
